| Question: Latin or Mandarin Chinese? | |
| I have the opportunity to learn both, but I am more willing to learn Latin. Not only because of the fact that my mother tongue is Spanish, and therefore it will be easier for me understand Latin(not fully of course, but a little easier), but also because it is an extinct tongue, and therefore it interests me more... after all, how many people can say “I can speak fluent Latin?" BUT, my mother says that I will benefit more from learning mandarin, for that is the "language of the future”. So my question is, which would be better to study?(i don’t mind the difficulty level, i am willing to learn). I would like to become a vet, so again, in the field of medicine. |

If you are making plans for your future, I think you should learn Chinese, because right now Chinese is very popular. Your mother is right, you will benefit a lot from Chinese. If you want to be a vet, right now vets in China are rare, so if you can work in China, I believe you will do very well for yourself. If you want to learn Chinese, I suggest the biggest school online, eChineseLearning.com, many people are studying there.
